Iowa’s Unemployment Rate Increases to 2.5 Percent

Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased slightly to 2.5 percent in July. The state’s jobless rate was 2.4 percent one year ago. The U.S. unemployment rate remained at 3.7 percent in July.

Siouxland Laborshed Study Completed

The Siouxland (the Sioux City metropolitan area) has had a Laborshed study completed. The results can be found on the LMI Laborshed page (

2018-2020 Short-Term Occupational Projections Released

The 2018Q2-2020Q2 short-term occupational projections, also known as forecasts, have been released for the State of Iowa and the fifteen Iowa Workforce Development Regions.

First Quarter 2019 Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages Released

The first quarter 2019 Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) data has been released. This data is a census of jobs covered by unemployment insurance and is available for Iowa and the 99 counties by sector and subsector. The available data now covers the first quarter of 2011 through the first quarter of 2019.
